Are You Driving a Classic Car?
The answer to this question from most people would be no, but a lot of these people would be wrong. To most people a classic car is a Ferrari Daytona, or a Pagoda roof Mercedes, but to an insurance company it is something quite different. Most insurance companies have to have a very specific way of deciding if a car is a classic or not, and usually, it boils down to age. Surprisingly enough, most insurance companies in this country class a car that is twenty years older or more to be a classic car! This means that any number of the thousands of mid eighties and even now very early nineties hatchback and family cars are considered to be classics! Just think, your ‘J’ plate Toyota Corolla is by some considered a classic! A 1989 Nissan Bluebird that could probably be bought at auction for £100 could be a classic!
This is no joke though, because anyone out there with one of these cars could be saving themselves a fortune by insuring their car as a classic car. Of course, you can do this through any old insurance company, but if you go to a classic car insurance specialist, it is likely to be much better cover, at a better price.
