The Mitsubishi Colt: Sink or Swim?

Saturday, July 24th, 2010

The Mitsubishi Colt is yet another hatchback that has found itself lumped in with a myriad of others in the saturated supermini market. This market is very much sink or swim recently and to stay afloat your car has got to have something a little different or special to attract interest. So will the Mitsubishi Colt be riding along on the crest of a wave or sinking irretrievably amidst the gloomy waters of supermini failure?

The first impression is suitably impressive as the exterior ticks boxes you wouldn’t expect it to, as it manages to look solid and chunky yet you can be sure that you will be able to fit it into all but the very tightest of parking spaces. It has a tall roof that means that there will be enough room to comfortably seat at least 4 6-foot+ adults; reassuring news if you were ferrying guests to a medical giant’s convention.

The interior is relatively basic, but looks smart enough and appears to be of a high manufacturing standard and all the plastics are rigid and will stand up to ham-fisted testing. The seating is perhaps a little too firm, which makes long journeys a little undesirable, but as these cars are primarily designed for short city driving, this isn’t too much of a pressing concern. Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X-rated

Saturday, July 17th, 2010

As I am an only child I have a bit of a problem when it comes to attention – I’m always seeking it. This however is socially accepted as ‘only child syndrome’ so I think I can get away with it. Unfortunately I can’t seem to get away from the fact that I am the most un-photogenic person on the planet, so I won’t be draped over the bonnet of a new Mitsubishi anytime soon. In any crowd, at any party or social occasion you can think of I’m there, in the front gurning uncontrollably in front of the camera.

Just a few years ago this wouldn’t have been much of a problem as the photos would be condemned to the family photo album or remain imprisoned on a friends’ memory card. Nowadays with the advent of social networking sites such as Myspace and Facebook I’m splattered all over the place looking ugly as sin. (more…)

Are Bikes Expensive to Insure?

Friday, July 16th, 2010

Whether or not Bikes are expensive to insure is often a question asked by car drivers. There are plenty of people out there who drive cars but have always had a yearning to really feel like they are at one with the elements as they tear across the landscape with just two wheels keeping them on this earth. It is a difficult question to answer, because, as with everything, there are a number of reasons why the answer to this question varies.

Firstly it depends on what you buy. If you pick up a small scooter with as much get up and go as a 2CV then you are going to find it pretty cheap to run and even cheaper to insure, but then again you are not really going to get the full motorbike experience!

A lot also depends on the storage you have for your bike. Anything in a garage is going to be a lot cheaper than a bike being parked on the side of the road for obvious reasons.

The main thing that will allow you to insure your bike reasonably cheaply is making sure that you use a specialist bike insurer. www.carolenash.com is a good firm who will be very likely to make you a decent offer for insurance.

The last thing to make a difference will be your years of experience of driving a bike against the number of Accidents you have had, and only you know the answer to this one!
